At 5 o’clock today an old, perhaps comical, British institution that tries to give some balance to what, often misguided but, elected officials think is the way forward will put a proposition through its pacings.
The House of Lords has never struck me as a good thing – the lords are unelected, they essentially live off the state after becoming a lord and their position of smug-riche is self-perpetuating…
And yet. They are the only possible solution – other than all out violence – to what I think is a draconian, very well thought out in idealism but unplanned in consequence set of future foundations for the processes of education in Britain.
At 5 o’clock on December 14th, 2010, the House of Lords might just save Britain.
They have the opportunity. They could save the future of Britain by simply saying ‘no’.
This is the first time I’ve put something down in typing about this – if you’re in the UK and you know a way to make the Lords say no, do it.
